The Central Eurasian Studies Society (CESS) is an international scholarly association supporting research in the social sciences and humanities focused on the Central Eurasian region.

Under the leadership of John Schoeberlein, the organization was established and has grown to over 1,500 members in over 60 countries. From its founding in 2000, until 2007, it was hosted by the Program on Central Asia and the Caucasus at Harvard University.

In spring of 2007, the CESS Secretariat rotated hosts for the first time to Miami University of Ohio.  The new interim joint Executive Director is Dr. Michael Rouland.
